Publix and United Way are long-term partners in improving early education. Publix has supported United Way Born Learning, an international campaign that helps families prepare their children for school with a wide range of tools and research-based parent education materials. As part of their contribution to Born Learning, Publix provided their shoppers with tips on early learning through in-store experiences, newsletters and more.
In Florida, Publix and United Way collaborate on ReadingPals, a statewide early literacy initiative that helps young children improve their reading skills. In Miami, 160 trained volunteers from United Way Miami-Dade's Women’s Leadership Council devoted 1,500 hours to reading with kids in 50 preschools. As a result, the literacy skills of 168 children rose by more than 100 percent, according to entrance and exit assessments.
That's one reason we've recognized Publix Super Markets as an Outstanding Strategic Partner, celebrating its leadership, long-term commitment, volunteering and employee engagement.
